The Silbrico Corporation, in an effort to improve their world-class perlite products and solutions, is proud to announce the acquisition of Supreme Perlite Company. The acquisition was completed on February 27, 2026.
“This is a great moment for us,” said Silbrico President & CEO Steven Garnett, “and we intend to honor the tradition of excellence established by Supreme and the Petterson family by bringing new and innovative perlite products produced in the Pacific Northwest region.”
A Portland, Oregon-based manufacturer of expanded perlite products, Supreme Perlite has been serving customers throughout the western United States, Canada, and Pacific Rim markets since 1954. The company became a family enterprise in 1960, when husband-and-wife team Pete and Lucille Petterson acquired the business. In the 1970s, their son Frank C. Petterson assumed ownership, continuing the company’s growth and reputation for quality. In 2019, the third generation of the Petterson family took over day-to-day management, further strengthening Supreme’s longstanding commitment to customer service and product excellence.
“The Petterson family built a respected business rooted in integrity, quality products, and strong customer relationships; values that align closely with our own.” Garnett continued. “We look forward to building on that legacy together.”
Headquartered in Hodgkins, Illinois, Silbrico has built an international presence as a trusted supplier of perlite solutions, serving markets across the globe. Founded in 1946, the company remains family owned and operated across five generations. The addition of Supreme Perlite complements Silbrico’s existing operations, including its modern production facility in Easton, Pennsylvania, completed in 2018.
The Portland facility strengthens Silbrico’s geographic reach, creating a powerful network of locations capable of serving customers across the entire North American continent. The strategic location also provides improved access to major Pacific shipping ports, enhancing Silbrico’s ability to serve international markets throughout the Pacific Rim.
Currently, Supreme Perlite specializes in traditional expanded perlite products serving the horticultural, industrial, insulation, filtration, and absorbent markets. Under Silbrico’s ownership, the company plans to introduce additional advanced perlite solutions to the region in the near future, including Sil-Cell® Perlite Microspheres and Sil-Kleer® Filtration Media. These expanded offerings will further reinforce Silbrico’s commitment to delivering comprehensive perlite solutions to customers across a wide range of industries.
“Silbrico’s mission has always been to provide customers with expertise, reliability, and innovation in perlite products,” Garnett stated. “With the addition of Supreme Perlite, we are strengthening that commitment and expanding our ability to serve customers around the world.”
Supreme Perlite also shares Silbrico’s commitment to sustainability. The Portland facility operates using 100% renewable wind power, has upgraded lighting and electrical systems to improve efficiency, uses packaging that is 99% post-consumer, biodegradable, or recyclable, and financially supports the development of renewable natural gas sources.
As the companies move forward together, Silbrico intends to build upon Supreme Perlite’s heritage while continuing to advance its mission as the industry leader in “All Things Perlite.”
